Have you thought about getting a carport?

Taking care of your car is important. You rely on it to get around your neighbourhood and perhaps for regular longer journeys as well. If you park your car on the street when you are not driving it, then you risk exposing it to damage from other road users and the extremes of the weather. While you may be able to park your car on your driveway, that will still leave it exposed to the weather, and you may be short of driveway space anyway if you have more than one vehicle. A better solution is to work with a company of carport builders and create the perfect place to store your vehicle when it is not in use.

Who should build your carport?

While you could build your carport, it is normally more sensible to bring in a team of qualified carport builders to do the work for you. It's unlikely that you have the time or the skills needed to carry out the work needed to erect a carport on your own. By using experienced, professional carport builders, you can be sure that you will receive a carport that will be able to protect your vehicle for many years. Before selecting the team of carport builders you will use, it is best to take the time to interview the prospective builders and ask them some questions about the skills and experience.

Two specific questions that you will want to address to the building company are as follows.

Do they have a portfolio?

Any experienced carport builders will be happy to show you examples of similar projects you have completed in the past. They will be confident enough in their work to show you pictures and even let you talk to their past clients so that you can judge for yourself the quality of the workmanship and the skills used in the erection of the carport.

What does the quotation cover?

Obtain a range of quotations from different carport builders, but don't assume that you can simply compare the quotations with each other. Always take the time to find out what the quotations cover. Not all carport builders will work out their pricing structures the same way. Ask about the quality of the materials being used and whether absolutely everything is included. You can't risk accepting a cheaper quotation and then discovering there are some expensive add-ons that you must add to the price.
